What is NSDUH?

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is an annual survey that provides up-to date information on alcohol, tobacco and drug use, mental health and other health-related issues in the United States.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), sponsors the NSDUH research.

The survey is conducted for SAMHSA by RTI International (RTI). RTI is an independent, nonprofit research organization based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. RTI has conducted the survey since 1988.
