Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I interpret English Language Skills test scores into Department of State Levels 1-5?

Understanding test scores of the English Language Skills is very simple, and may be correlated to the Department of State scoring template of the English language, as depicted below in the Evaluation of English Language Skills. Level 1 (Rudimentary Knowledge) would correlate to an evaluation percentage of 0% to 25%, little or no knowledge. Similarly, for Levels 2-5, evaluation of tests leads to a score percentage that correlates to the candidate’s level of knowledge of the English language.

    Evaluation of English Language Skills

    • 0% to 25% = Little or no knowledge = Rudimentary Knowledge (Level 1)
    • 25% to 40% = Limited knowledge = Limited Knowledge (Level 2)
    • 40% to 65% = Moderate knowledge = Good Working Knowledge (Level 3)
    • 65% to 80% = Strong knowledge = Fluent (Level 4)
    • 80% to 100% = Very strong knowledge = Professional Translator/Interpreter or Equivalent (Level 5)
  2. How quickly can I begin using the assessments after I buy a package?

  4. What is the uptime for StratComm’s services? Are scheduled maintenance events announced?
