Wall Street Journal Profiles Vietnam Vet Giving Back
In our book The American Experience in Vietnam: Reflections on an Era, which was published in 2014, the final chapter, titled “Looking Back,” highlights veterans who are using their knowledge and experience as veterans of Vietnam to give back to the veteran community. One of the people we profiled was Ed Nicholson, founder of Project Healing Waters, a nonprofit that takes wounded veterans on fishing expeditions to connect with fellow veterans and hopefully help them heal psychic wounds.
In its November 29, 2015 issue, the Wall Street Journal published a story about Mr. Nicholson as part of its “Second Acts” series that profiles individuals who have thrived in second careers and beyond. “Fishing is almost beside the point,” Mr. Nicholson said in the Journal article. “Just as important is the camaraderie between participants, which soldiers really miss from their time in the service.”
