Tech Pubs: United States Navy Technical Manuals
StratComm works with Rolls Royce Naval Marine, Inc. (RRNMI) on technical manuals supporting U.S. Navy ship programs (DDG-1000 and LCS 1, 3, and 5). When the project started in 2010, RRNMI contacted StratComm after realizing their current vendor was unable to deliver. After reviewing the technical data, a number of problems were found to have occurred repeatedly: missing data and incorrectly implemented engineering changes, overseen by lax project management. StratComm’s unique insights into the process enabled us to quickly assess the situation and recommend a course of action, moving the project forward.
StratComm completely modified the Data Module Requirements List (DMRL) and created and updated thousands of data modules and illustrations for the manuals across various programs. We corrected errors and identified missing data in the material provided by the previous vendor. StratComm developed data using a Common Source Database (CSDB), and was able to eliminate errors, maintain consistency in the documentation, and rebuild the DMRL.
